"You Can't Argue with Success."

A Letter from the President

As President of the Illinois Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, I would like you to consider becoming a member of the organization. The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) is the organization that represents associate degree nursing across the country. Our organization consists of approximately 1100 associate degree nursing educators and nurses from almost every state. We are an active, vibrant organization that continually seeks to maintain and improve the quality of associate degree nursing education.

Every year OADN has a national convention that is well-attended by the Illinois Chapter. The 2017 convention will be in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 17-19, 2017. More information can be found at the OADN website (www.oadn.org). Members get a discount on the registration fee.

The other wonderful perk of being a member of OADN is a subscription to the journal Teaching and Learning in Nursing. This journal is full of articles related to nursing education that you will find stimulating and educational.

One of the things we are most proud of in the Illinois Chapter is our role in the creation of a national honor society for nursing students in associate degree nursing programs: Alpha Delta Nu. Alpha Delta Nu was started in Illinois in 2010, modeled after the honor society at Prairie State College. After our success at a statewide honor society, OADN sanctioned Alpha Delta Nu as a national entity in 2012. We think it is so important to recognize the excellence of our most promising students.

I truly hope you will consider becoming a member of the organization. To do so, please visit the OADN website and click on About, then Membership Information, then Membership Brochure. It is a very small investment with a wonderful return. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours truly,

Valerie Moore
